Effortless Flush∙Makeup Bag Monday 10/28/24
Recently I got a lash lift and the result was even less effort in my daily makeup routine.
There’s a few things I’ve tried over the years that are high maintenance to be low maintenance everyday and I think the lash lift has trumped professional lash extensions and DIY lash extensions. Now I do use Revitalash and my lashes are crazy long, so with the lash lift it looks almost unreal, but very natural at the same time. What I always wished extensions would achieve, but never quite there.
With a lash lift I also have the flexibility of washing my face as usual and adding falsies or mascara for more drama.
Before the lash lift, I was reaching for tubing mascaras and even a dark brown tubing mascara to achieve a curl with added volume. Sharing my favorite from the last few months in today’s Makeup Bag Monday along with a few products I’ve been reaching for again. Nothing new, just good old rotation and rediscovery.
This Week
What is Makeup Bag Monday
Makeup Bag Monday was a series I started on my beauty channel 7 years ago. The original concept was for me to rotate my makeup collection and try new products each week. After a full week of thorough testing, I’d share with my audience an updated review on each product and what I would be testing for the upcoming week.
This series was created to help me rotate my makeup collection when I had an abundance of products, but also force me to really test out new products as them came in. After two years of posting consistently, I needed a break from Makeup Bag Monday. It was overwhelming to be changing products so frequently and I missed using up what I loved.
This new version of Makeup Bag Monday focuses on re-discovery, re-purpose, and low consumption. Gone are the days of weekly massive hauls and PR gifting. We use what we love with a little sprinkle of new here and there.
Not Quite a Miracle, But Good
Jones Road Miracle Balm in Flushed $38 has been in the rotation for the last two weeks. My first purchase was in the shade dusty rose, but it didn’t show up on my face so when I was gifted flushed, I was hesitant, but this brighter pink is the perfect everyday flush of color for me.
Miracle balm has a very hydrating formula that won’t work on super oily skin or expect it to be a bit sticky. My skin has been feeling dry lately especially with the Santa Ana winds and this was the perfect no makeup, low effort pinch of color for me that also adds radiance.
There is a very natural scent to the product that dissipates once applied. Overall I enjoy this product enough to keep rotating it back in.
The Perfect Nude Blush
I know when you look at this swatch of Tower 28 Beach Please Cream Blush in Magic Hour $20 it looks more pink, but truly nude blushes make me look dead. This is the perfect wash of peachy bronze on my skin tone to achieve a warmth all over without looking like you’ve tried.
Think the blush/bronzer trend going viral now on TikTok, but more wearable. Tower 28 Beach Please is one of my favorite cream blush formulas. Buildable pigment that works on almost all skin types and lasts! It’s also not sticky.
So Old I Don’t Have the Shade
This YSL Touch Éclat $40 pen has been in my "collection” so long I have no idea what the shade is or if it’s safe to use, but I’ve been using it.
Something I NEVER thought I’d do, but have been is forgoing concealer. Normally even if I don’t wear a tint or base I’ll spot conceal areas on my face and under eyes, but lately I’ve just been revisiting this brightening pen to do exactly that, brighten. It’s undetectable and so much quicker than traditional concealer.
Happy I didn’t declutter this in my last purge.
Annoyingly Good Tubing Mascara
Why is this mascara annoying? Because it’s not a normal click to buy product. In order to buy the Beaubble & Rudi Chocolate Dripped Tubing Mascara $25 you’ll have to pre-order and wait for shipment.
This is good for the environment and bottom line, but a little frustrating when you want to avoid hoarding and buying multiples etc.
Other than the order process, I love this tubing mascara. It’s a rich chocolate braown which is hard to find in a good tubing formula. The brush is tapered and easy to reach the shortest inner corner lashes as well as wiggle the formula through.
The tubing lifts, curls, and adds volume while separating. Love a tubing formula that makes removing at the end of the night quick.
Before my lash lift I kept reaching for this mascara and now that I have a lift, I’ll occasionally use this for a little more drama if I’m going out.
